Shannon Hudson
Camp Coordinator

Shannon Hudson was recently named the Red Hawks Camp Coordinator and in January 2023 was honored with induction into the Catawba Valley Red Hawks Hall of Fame. Hudson also serves as the director of the newly established Fellowship of Christian Athletes Foothills Volleyball Club and coaches an FCA Force 17s team after a distinguished 11-year run as head coach at Catawba Valley Community College where she posted a 348-76 record and a .782 career winning percentage.

Hudson's CVCC teams have been nationally ranked 10 out of the 11 years she coached, including being as high as No. 3. Hudson has led the Red Hawks to six NJCAA National Tournaments, including a fourth-place finish in 2016 and a ninth-place finish in 2018. CVCC holds the record for most consecutive conference wins in the NJCAA with 143 straight and Hudson led the Red Hawks to back-to-back undefeated seasons in 2012 (35-0) and 2013 (39-0). Over the past eight seasons, Hudson has led the Red Hawks to eight consecutive Region X regular-season championships.

In 2019, her squad went 34-6 and 11-0 in conference play while advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament. The Red Hawks dominated, winning 29 of their 34 matches by a final score of 3-0 and six of her players recorded at least 134 kills on the year. CVCC ranked as high as No. 3 in 2019 and extended its in-region winning streak to 179 straight.

Hudson is a six-time NJCAA District Coach of the Year, a five-time NJCAA Region X Coach of the Year and is the 2018 American Volleyball Coaches Association 2-year East/Southeast Region Coach of the Year. Hudson is currently the winningest women's volleyball coach in school history and the winningest coach in any athletic program at CVCC.

On top of the team's success, Hudson helped multiple players achieve individual accolades. In her career, Hudson has coached 39 All-Region Players, eight Region X Players of the Year and six NJCAA All-Americans. Most recently, sophomore Emma Clark became the first player in program history to earn two First Team All-American honors.

Hudson graduated from Gardner-Webb in 2001 with a bachelor's in business administration. During her sophomore year, her team won the South Atlantic Conference Championship during the program's final year as a member of the league before making the transition to Division I. Shannon is married with three children.

Madison Pogue
Head Volleyball Coach

Madison Pogue finished her third season as the head volleyball coach at Catawba Valley Community College and serves as Director of Operations for the FCA Force Volleyball club.
During her first season as coach, Pogue led the Red Hawks to a 21-5 overall record, including 10-0 mark in Region 10 play. CVCC also won its 13th Region 10 title and clinched a berth at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II national championship for a third-straight season. At the national tournament, the Red Hawks won their first match of the event for only the second time in school history.
Pogue, who helped CVCC extend its winning stream in Region matches to 195 in a row in Division I, II and III play and 156 in a row in conference matches, was named the Southeast District A Coach of the Year.
She was hired on March 1, 2020 to lead her alma mater as Catawba Valley Community College's fifth volleyball coach all time.

One of the most prolific setters in Red Hawk volleyball history, Pogue helped lead CVCC to a 73-9 record during her two seasons on the court in 2013 and 2014, including a perfect 34-0 record in conference play and a national tournament appearance in 2013.

Pogue ranked sixth in the nation in service aces during both her freshman and sophomore seasons with the Red Hawks, and she ranked 12th in nation in aces per set during her final season at CVCC en route to All-Region 10 first team honors.

She finished her Red Hawk career ranked second all-time in career assists (2,243), assists per set (8.561) and aces (179), and she also ranks third first most aces in a single season (83).

Pogue went on to finish her collegiate career at North Greenville University where she compiled 2,276 assists, 517 digs, 127 kills and 74 aces in 63 matches (222 sets) played for the Crusaders.

She set North Greenville's single-season record for assists with 1,201 in 2015, and she also broke the school's single match assist record (53 against Georgia College on Sept. 11, 2015) before going on to earn second team all-conference accolades.

Following her athletic career, Pogue continued to give back to the sport she loves, serving as a graduate assistant coach for the Crusaders for two seasons.

After her time playing and coaching at North Greenville, Pogue remained active in volleyball, serving as the Director of Operations for the FCA Foothills Volleyball Club in Hickory — a program she started with mentor and former Red Hawk head coach Shannon Hudson.
